About us

A village that feeds itself. Kotieno Community Farm is a teacher-led permaculture farm in Rangwe, Homa Bay County, Kenya. Founder Paul Omondi Otieno ("Paul Kotieno") left the classroom in 2020 to farm with two friends; today the farm grows vegetables and fruit shared with widows, orphans, elders and families living with illness, raises a nursery of more than a thousand trees, carries drinking water in dry spells and helps cover school fees for orphaned students — serving a community of about 650 people. The aim is a farm that earns its own way and an open model any smallholder can copy. Follow the monthly field notes, or become a Friend of the Farm and fund the next asset: a chicken coop, a water tank, a fence.
